About the artist
Iona Stoddart is a Glaswegian contemporary artist currently based in New York City.
Working mostly in oil paint on canvas, her work focuses on the vibrancy of everyday scenes using cubist and futurist principles, all the while maintaining a tangible variation of abstraction.
With a background in History of Art and English Literature, her work pays homage to past cultural conventions, all the while embracing the forms, colours and expressions of the current communal landscape.
A lifetime of exposure to art and culture, as well as five years of experience working alongside her father - sculptor Alexander Stoddart - in his studios in Paisley, has given this emerging artist a unique insight into the making of art today.
Her work hangs in private collections around the world. Including, but not limited to: Glasgow, London, Lake Como and New York.
Past exhibition experience includes ‘The Winter Exhibition’ at the Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie, Glasgow.
